It is reported that InvisDefense invisibility cloak can provide all-weather invisibility defense. In the daytime scene, its special camouflage pattern can effectively interfere with the visual neural network, making it "blind". In the night scene, it can achieve stealth under thermal infrared imaging by embedding temperature control materials in the clothing, which can be used to protect personal safety under machine vision.

Wang Zheng, the instructor of InvisDefense invisibility cloak research and development team and professor of Wuhan University, said that people know that wearing camouflage clothes can make them difficult to see, but they are still easy to be recognized by computer vision, because it is "seen" by algorithms. Therefore, the research team designed a camouflage pattern through a new algorithm to disable the current commonly used pedestrian detection methods For night mode, infrared thermal imaging is commonly used in computer vision to judge, and the corresponding method is to install some temperature control devices in the "invisibility cloak", which makes it difficult for the computer to judge by thermal imaging patterns.

It is not easy to realize the theoretical design of "invisibility cloak". The first thing to be solved is a balance, that is, to design the most inconspicuous pattern that can make computer vision ineffective through algorithms. " In order to find this balance, the team members continued to use computer simulation and experienced nearly 700 failures in three months before achieving the desired results.

Another difficulty is to achieve day and night compatibility. The goal of the team is to find the most cost-effective solution. After changing the local temperature, it is also necessary to calculate an effective arrangement, which can eventually successfully interfere with computer vision recognition. Through the team's test, it can be found that only four irregularly shaped temperature control devices need to be installed inside the jacket to enable infrared imaging to identify "blindness".

It is reported that the current InvisDefense invisibility cloak can reduce the pedestrian detection accuracy by 57.0%, which can be higher in the future.

At present, UAV combat has been very popular, and many countries are studying machine combat. In the future, the confrontation between man and machine will be very common. Therefore, it is necessary to study the "stealth uniform". The value of the invisibility cloak lies in its possible contribution to China's national defense. For civil use, its value lies in the reverse promotion of AI model security.

According to Ju's research team, the current cost of a InvisDefense invisibility cloak is about 500 yuan, which is a cost-effective solution.
